A wooden door with a 5 Lever British Standard 3621 Mortice Lock. The key had been left on the inside by the person whom vacated the property last, via another door for which Mrs F did not have a key for. She only had a key for the lock which had a key inserted on the inside, hence she was unable to insert the key into the lock.

This is a common problem and should not result in the drilling of the lock by the locksmith, nor should it be necessary to replace the lock.

Locksmiths Doncaster were able to gain entry to the door without damaging the lock and the customer only had to pay our labour charge, not the cost of a new lock which most modern day so called locksmiths ensure by using the drill at each opportunity and hence render the lock unserviceable and necessitate the replacement of same and additional expense.

Keys should not be left in the internal side of locks overnight, this is a security issue, if you require any further information relating to this we would be pleased to visit your property and demonstrate why this is bad practice – we will not discuss any such issue over the phone to people we do not know.
